Here are a few videos from Open Mic – if you’ve got any then please let us know and we’ll add them to the site. Hopefully the lighting we’ll be better on yours!

June so far…gigging, recording, and filming

Hall Place StudiosJune has been pretty busy for us so far, particularly this weekend. As you may have read we’ve recently been doing some recording at Hall Place studios, Leeds. We’re combining the sessions so that we also use our home based set up, allowing us to do more work on the track without having to pay for ‘studio’ time.

On Friday we managed to finish our Track ‘Hold On me’, which in our opinion sounds well awesome – but we would say that! So Sunday we headed out to do some of the first scenes for our upcoming video helped by our good friend Lance Featherstone. We trekked along to Malham cove, and somewhat surprisingly the weather was nice to us, hopefully there are going to be a few teasers up on the site soon, although we’ve still not actually completed filming yet!

We also managed to squeeze in a gig in between, playing our first ‘Hen do’. IT was an experience. We thought groups of guys could be rowdy! This was also through in the Yorkshire Dales, in a small village called Dent. Fingers crossed it won’t be the last hen do we play as we thoroughly enjoyed it!

Hopefully catch you all on Friday at Cellar V! 19:30 – 21:30.

So we’re heading back to the studio this Sunday to record a few tracks. We’re both pretty excited to get back in there and produce some new tracks, and as soon as we’re able we’ll get them out on this website and on YouTube. We should also have some video content to get up here as the near-legendary Paul Atkinson will be accompanying us for the trip. If you’ve got any last minute suggestions for songs you’d like to hear on these recordings then please let us know.

Otherwise keep your eyes open and we’ll have some new stuff up as soon as we can!

3 Gigs and a Champions League Final…

We’re looking forward to a busy bank holiday weekend coming up. It kicks off with our regular Pay Day Weekend Gig at Cellar V in Guiseley 7.30pm. We’re followed by a DJ at 10pm and the usual Cellar drinks offers apply. Always a good night, especially on a pay day weekend.

Mike has a ticket to the Champions League Final on Saturday night, which in a lesser man would cause enough jealousy to split Minus 27 into two lots of Minus 13.5, but I’ve manned up and accepted that I’ll just have to watch on a big screen somewhere.

We’re playing West End House in Kirkstall Sunday night, and if the audience participation is half as funny as last time it should be a good laugh.

Our usual Monday night Open Mic spot at The Queens in Apperley Bridge rounds off the weekend.

I’ve also included a video below of us playing Coconut Skins by Damien Rice – hopefully see you this weekend.

New Song – It Is What It Is

Here’s a little sneak peak, of new song ‘It Is What It Is’. See you at Open Mic on Monday night, 9pm at The Queens, Apperley Bridge.

This week is again a busy 5 days for Minus 27. Tonight is our regular spot at The Queens, Apperley Bridge, 9pm. Wednesday sees M27 return to the White Cross in Guiseley and Friday (you know that free day off) sees us back at the West End in Kirkstall, and then later on that day we’re back at Cellar V to give bank holiday number 2 another kickstart.

As always anyone is welcome, whether it be to play at The Queens or The White Cross, or just to come and heckle at the West End or Cellar V. It would be great to see you there.

Also a quick reminder about Solfest 2011, tickets are still available – plus, we’re hopefully doing some filming in late May for a video.

AND…a big thank you for getting over 200 likes on Facebook – next target is 300!
